Peter O’Connor
Certified Phlebotomist & Nurse
Technician
Peter O’Connor is a certified
phlebotomist (a specialist in blood
draws and blood testing), EKG technician,
and Nurse Technician for New York House
Call Physicians highly capable of performing
home blood testing, home phlebotomy,
and various other home testing on house
calls in the New York area.
Mr. Peter O’Connor completed
his Associates in Applied Science Degree
at Hudson Valley Community College in
Troy, New York (2003). Peter O’Connor
then went on to obtain his Nurse Technician
Certification at the Caliber Training
Institute in New York City, New York
(2004).
Clinical phlebotomy training and proficiency
occurred at St. Mary’s Hospital
in Troy, New York (2004) where Peter
O’Connor ultimately was asked
to perform blood testing on the most
difficult patients when the nurses were
unsuccessful, namely those on the oncology,
geriatric, dialysis, and pediatric floors.
Peter O’Connor obtained additional
training at Laboratory Corporation of
America in Jackson Heights, New York
(2004-2005), working namely with patients
with challenging veins for drawing blood
(i.e. pediatric and geriatric patients).
Peter O’Connor is a highly experienced
and friendly medical assistant and phlebotomist
who has been working with New York House
Call Physicians since its inception
in 2005. His training, responsibilities,
and proficiencies include office and
home phlebotomy using standard venipuncture
techniques, evacuated tube system/syringe
needle techniques, lancet techniques,
and butterfly techniques; electrocardiograms;
vital sign collection; urine and stool
test collection; infection control;
contamination control; and medication
dispensation. Virtually any blood test
you would expect at a doctor’s
office or emergency room, Peter O’Connor
can perform in your home on a house
call.
