Dr. Cynthia Zara, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Medical Director of Optometry and Eye
Care
Dr. Cynthia Zara obtained her B.A.
in chemistry with a focus on biochemistry
at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs,
New York (1999), graduating with High
Academic Honors. Dr. Zara’s doctorate
in optometry was completed at the Southern
College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee
(2003). Dr. Cynthia Zara had the honors
of Dean’s List at the Southern
College of Optometry.
Dr. Cynthia Zara internship training
occurred at OMNI Eye services of New
Jersey (2002) and at the New Jersey
Health Care System VA (2003). Residency
training in vision therapy and rehabilitation
occurred at SUNY College of Optometry
in New York City, New York (2004). Dr.
Zara performed research in the
Effectiveness of a Vision Therapy Program
in an Institutional Setting (2003)
and Pigment Dispersion Syndrome/Pigmentary
Glaucoma (2003).
Cynthia Zara, O.D., F.A.A.O., is licensed
in the practice of optometry in the
states of New York (2003) and New Jersey
(2004). Dr. Zara is a fellow of the
American
Academy of Optometry, a member of
the American
Optometric Association, and a member
of the College
of Optometrists in Vision Development.
Clinical experience in eye disease
and eye care occurred at Pediatric Ophthalmology
of New York where Dr. Zara was responsible
for pediatric eye exams, strabismus,
and amblyopia evaluations; Myoptics
(New York City) for primary care optometry
and specialty contact lens fitting;
St.Lukes Roosevelt Hospital in New York
City where Dr. Zara is a clinical instructor
and a fully credentialed eye doctor
on the medical staff; Eyecare Contacts
with responsibilities in pediatric eye
care, glaucoma management, contact lens
fitting, and diagnosis and treatment
of diseases of the eye and visual system;
and the Belmont Eye Center with experience
in corneal disease diagnosis and treatment,
laser vision consultation, keratoconus
management, post-surgical vision management,
and specialty contact lens fitting.
Cynthia Zara, O.D., is currently the
Medical Director of Optometry and Eye
Care for New York House Call Physicians.
Dr. Zara can diagnose, treat, and follow
most eye-related problems in your home
for patients of all ages. Dr. Zara can
also perform full visual examinations
and treatment for problems with near-vision
(e.g. for reading glasses), problems
with far-vision (e.g. for distance glasses),
and/or for contact lens fitting in your
home.
